This year, Niantic and The Pokémon Company have huge plans for Pokémon Go Fest. The 2019 event will be split into three parts: one in Chicago, which has hosted the event for the previous two years; one in Dortmund, Germany; and one in an unknown Asian location. The Pokémon Go Summer Tour will be the official name for the series of events.
Pokemon Go Fest 2019 Chicago is Here!
Pokémon Go Fest Chicago 2019 will take place from June 13 to 16, making it a four-day event this year. The event will return to Grant Park in Chicago, which hosted the inaugural Pokémon Go Fest. The organizers offer a variety of Pokémon to capture, as well as physical installations and other events.
According to Niantic, tickets for Pokémon Go Fest Chicago will go on sale later this month using a new ticketing mechanism available inside the Pokémon Go app. The Pokémon Go website has more information about the Chicago Go Fest.
Pokémon Go Fest will return to Dortmund, Germany, in July for a second four-day event. The Pokémon Go Fest Dortmund will take place at Westfalenpark from July 4 to 7. Last year, the Dortmund park hosted a two-day Pokémon Go Safari Zone event. The Pokémon Go Fest Dortmund tickets will go on sale "later this spring." The European competition has its own webpage.
The Pokémon Company and Niantic have not announced dates or locations for the Pokémon Go Fest in Asia.
Pokémon Go players who are unable to attend the Go Fest events in person will be able to participate in special challenges to earn prizes. The specifics of these challenges will be disclosed in the run-up to each Go Fest. Pokémon Go Community Days are also promised by Niantic and The Pokémon Company in June, July, and August.
Niantic found their groove during the 2019 Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago. The event was well-executed, had new features, and included successful elements from previous events. From June 13 to 16, 60,000 people attended the event at Grant Park, Chicago. Over the holiday weekend, my fellow Trainers and I captured 15 million Pokémon.
The Trading Outpost section was one of my favorite new additions, which was not present at the prior two Chicago events. Attendees were permitted to make five Special Trades on their participation day, despite the fact that players ordinarily only get one Special Trade each day. Staff offered bulletin boards on which we could post and show Pokémon that we were seeking for and ready to give up.
Before I had even completed putting the first line on the "searching for" side of my board, a player from Japan approached me and offered Tropius and Relicanth that he had caught at Asian competitions. I was fortunate in how quickly exchanges went since I had monsters from the previous two Chicago tournaments to offer. Aside from Regionals, I was pleased to get two additional Unown – among of the game's rarest monsters — to my burgeoning collection.
Other events during Chicago's Pokémon GO Fest 2019 featured a Battle competition and the opportunity to meet prominent Pokémon GO YouTubers. I hope Niantic keeps developing official fight competitions in the future. Outside of this event, contests have been restricted to unofficial matches organized by committed fans (including YouTubers) all around the globe.
The third annual Chicago Pokémon GO event, like previous events conducted in other nations, included a Regional Pokémon. The electric squirrel Pachirisu, which is native to far northern regions such as Canada and Russia, has temporarily relocated to Chicago's concrete jungle. As usual, certain Unown seemed to provide
uncommon chances to capture the alphabet-inspired Pokémon. The message they spelled this year was "Wake up!" in allusion to the tale of the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi.
The experience was enhanced by meandering through distinct real-world environments. The Spooky Woods, where Ghost and Dark kinds multiplied in droves, was my favorite spot. The event's Special Research requires players to visit all habitats several times in order to accomplish tasks and acquire Jirachi.
To complete the Special Research, users needed to snap AR photographs of certain Pokémon. Trainers that were watching carefully observed cunning beasts photobombing their pictures. These musical-themed Pokémon were linked to Jirachi's Special Research's last section.

After exploring the whole event venue, players may continue to spin unique PokéStops, rest in six team lounges, have a snack from food trucks or stalls, purchase exclusive gear, and compete in prize competitions. For the
first time, the event lasted from 11:00 a.m. (early admission from 9:00 a.m.) to 7:00 p.m. for four full days. But, as many Shiny hunters know, the search for a certain monster might sometimes last all day.
The third version of the Pokémon GO Fest 2019 Chicago was a satisfactory conclusion to an event that started with mayhem in 2017. There were some minor network troubles and a rain delay for this year's event, but Niantic was ready to deal with them. Players who were impacted by Saturday's weather delay will be allowed to participate this weekend regardless of where they are in the globe.
This summer, two additional Pokémon GO Fests are planned in Dortmund, Germany, and Yokohama, Japan. Trainers all around the world will continue to collaborate to unlock in-game incentives for gamers all over the world. Niantic hinted Team Rocket in Chicago, so I expect more surprises in the coming months for all of us aspiring Pokémon Masters.
