The event, which is scheduled for October 9, will feature the adorable frightening Pokemon Duskull. The October Community Day for Pokemon Go is come. The event begins today, Oct. 9, and provides players greater chances to capture a rare ghost Pokemon as well as a few additional in-game benefits like as more Stardust and longer incense duration. Furthermore, throughout the event, Pokemon Go will be giving unique Timed Research activities. Completing them will win you Sinnoh Stones, which you'll need if you want to evolve this month's highlighted Pokemon and learn October's special event move. When is Pokemon Go's October Community Day?

Pokemon Go's October Community Day takes place on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in your local time zone.

October's featured Pokemon: Duskull

The ghost-type Pokemon Duskull is the focus of this month's Community Day. Wild Duskull will appear considerably more often than normal throughout the event, giving you more opportunities to capture the ghost Pokemon and stock up on Duskull candies. During October's Community Day, you'll be able to meet Shiny Duskull in addition to ordinary Duskull. This variety will be somewhat uncommon, although using an Incense will boost your chances of meeting one.

October Community Day move: Shadow Ball

If you can get Dusclops (Duskull's evolved form) to evolve into Dusknoir on October's Community Day, it will learn the ghost-type Charged Attack Shadow Ball naturally. Dusknoir can't ordinarily learn this move in Pokemon Go, so October's Community Day is your only opportunity to obtain it. Dusclops may develop and learn Shadow Ball until 7 p.m. local time, two hours after the event concludes.

October Community Day bonuses

Aside from higher Duskull spawning, there will be a few more in-game incentives available for October's Community Day. Any Incense or Lure Modules you use during the event will be active for three hours instead of the normal two. In addition, capturing Pokemon will award you three times the standard amount of Stardust.

A special item bundle will be on sale in Pokemon Go's in-game shop during October's Community Day. The bundle costs 1,280 PokeCoins and includes the following items:
  • 50 Ultra Balls
  • 4 Incense
  • 4 Star Pieces
  • 1 Elite Charged TM

The October Community Day event will take place on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 11am to 5pm in each Trainer’s local time, meaning you won’t need to worry about converting time zones.

Pokemon Go Duskull Community Day exclusive move

When you evolve Duskull (and its evolution Dusclops) into Dusknoir during the October 2021 Community Day or up to two hours after it ends, Dusknoir will know the event-exclusive move Shadow Ball.

This is a powerful Ghost-type Charged Attack that Dusknoir won’t be able to learn outside of the event unless you have an Elite Charged TM, so it’s definitely worth taking the time to evolve one now.

Can Duskull be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

The good news is that Shiny Duskull is available in Pokemon Go, along with its evolved forms. It made its debut during the game’s 2017 Halloween celebrations and has an eye-catching red color scheme.

Shiny variations aren’t easy to catch, and they’ll only ever show up at random, but the good news is that there will be an increased chance of finding a Shiny Duskull during the October 2021 Community Day.

Pokemon Go October 2021 Community Day bonuses

There will be multiple bonuses to enjoy during Pokemon Go’s October Community Day event:

  • Trainers can earn triple Catch Stardust during event hours.
  • Incense and Lure Modules activated during event hours will last for three hours.
  • Up to four free Sinnoh Stones will be available by completing free Timed Research to help evolve Dusclops into Dusknoir.
  • There will be 30 Ultra Balls available in the shop for free to help catch Duskull.
  • Taking a few snapshots during the event will result in a special surprise.
  • For $1, you will be able to access an exclusive Special Research story called Nothin’ Dull about Duskull.

How to prepare for Pokemon Go Community Days

Go players will need a lot of Pokeballs to catch plenty of Duskull

If you’re going to take part in a Community Day, there are a few things you can do to prepare and get the most out of the event:

  • Purchase at least two Incense to use throughout the day.
  • Save any Lures you have as they will last for three hours during the event.
  • Stock up on LOTS of Poke Balls so you can catch plenty of the headline Pokemon.
  • Clear out your Pokemon Storage for all the catching you’ll be doing.
  • Purchase a ticket from the Shop to unlock the Community Day’s Special Research.

Other October Community Day Bonuses

Along with a better chance of finding Duskulls in the wild, players can claim some sweet rewards during this month's community day. Players will earn three times the usual Stardust for catching any Pokemon, and any Incense or Lure Modules they activate will last for three hours.

A new Special Research story will also be live during the event, titled Nothin' Dull About Duskull. Players can purchase a ticket for the story for $1 or the equivalent of their local currency. The game's shop will also carry a one-time-purchase community day box, that includes 50 Ultra Balls, four Incense, four Star Pieces, and an Elite Charged TM all for 1,280 PokeCoins.

  In addition, Niantic will offer a free bundle of 30 Ultra Balls in Pokemon Go's item shop. There will also be free Timed Research tasks to complete during the event. These will reward you with Sinnoh Stones, which are required to evolve Dusclops into Dusknoir.
