Adventure_Week_2017_Event   Another week, another Pokémon GO event, this one only ten days after the conclusion of the last one, the grass-themed Global Bloom. It's known as "Adventure Week," and it's not associated with any particular festival anywhere in the globe. Niantic just recently announced it in a blog post, noting that players had traveled a (very arbitrary) 15.8 billion kilometers. In the spirit of "adventure," they created this new event, which will run from May 18th to May 25th and will concentrate on rock type Pokémon with a few extra added incentives. According to the most current listing, here's what to anticipate from this new event: - Pokeballs are 50% discounted in the shop. - Gamers will get more goods every PokeStop visit. - Friend Pokémon may now discover sweets four times quicker. - A new wardrobe piece, the Explorer's Hat, is now available for free. - The event will witness an increase in the spawn rate of rock-type Pokémon, notably Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl, according to the report. What is evident is that this is a "genuine" event, not a micro-event like the Global Bloom, which came with just grass kinds and nothing more throughout its lengthy weekend span. This is much more like a traditional Pokémon GO event, and the buddy distance multiplier alone is definitely a reason for players to show up, as it's quite literally one of the most valuable event bonuses the game offers, given how targeted the buddy system is for evolving/upgrading specific Pokémon. I'm curious whether this event will address the biome problem, since during the Global Bloom, although certain locations were flooded with grass types, the urban environment in Chicago hardly noticed a shift in spawning, and the same was apparently true of other city/desert biomes. It would be a shame if this happened again this time. This event, like previous ones, seems to be centered on providing players Pokémon that may be rare ones they've been missing for a time. Aerodactyl is one of the game's rarest Pokémon, and many players may not have collected enough Omanyte or Kabuto to craft their evolutions yet. Yet, they are far from the only rock kinds seen in Gen 1 and Gen 2. The following are all of the rock kinds that might exist in this event. It says "rock types," not "ground kinds," which are distinct in Pokémon, so I'm not included them (though some are both).
  • Geodude \Graveler
  • Golem \Onix
  • Rhyhorn \Rhydon
  • Omanyte \Omastar \Kabuto \sKabutops
  • Sudowudo, the Aerodactyl (really? Apparently)
  • Shuckle
  • Magcargo Corosola
  • Larvitar \Pupitar \Tyranitar
That final three piqued my interest, since Tyranitar is presently one of the most powerful Pokémon in the game, and if Larvitar and its evolutions do appear more often during this event, this is practically Gen 2's equivalent of more Dratini spawns. So far, this seems to be a decent event with excellent benefits and a variety of sought-after Pokémon to locate. We'll know what spawns look like on Thursday, but in the meanwhile, start stockpiling supplies. More details to follow.     Adventure Week 2017 Event

My Thoughts About Adventure Week 2017

This week, a new special event in Pokémon Go starts, and it's all about the rock-type Pokémon. The promotion, branded "Adventure Week" by developer Niantic, invites players to go outside and start digging for Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, and other rare, fossil-based creatures. During the week, these Pokémon, as well as the non-fossilized Onix and Sudowoodo, will be more prevalent than normal. The event runs from May 18 from 1 p.m. PT through May 25 at 1 p.m. PT, offering players seven days to complete their rock-type collections. PokéStops will provide more goods than normal to assist with this. As an added advantage, friend Pokémon will have to go less distance to obtain sweets. To top it all off, all players who check in during Adventure Week will get a commemorative article of clothing: the Adventurer's Hat. As summer approaches, anticipate more reasons like these to reintroduce Pokémon Go into your life. The game's first sponsored outdoor event took place earlier this month in North Carolina; Niantic has yet to announce another, although the business has already expressed its desire to continue bringing players together. https://pokemongocentral.one/adventure-week-2017-in-pokemon-go/?feed_id=49945&_unique_id=63f55279ecf85
