Pokemon Center London was a regional event held in London, United Kingdom. The occasion marked the launch of the first Pokémon Center in the United Kingdom.

Trainers, the first real Pokémon Center Shop in the UK, will open its doors for the first time in London from October 18 to November 15, 2019, and Pokemon Go players who are in or near the Pokemon Center will have the opportunity to capture uncommon Pokemon during this time.

True, a new limited-time event will be available from October 18 to November 18, and Niantic has confirmed that the spawn rate of some rare Pokemon will be enhanced.

Demos of the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be held upstairs at the Pokémon Center London. The demo area will use a wristband entry system and visitors will be assigned a timeslot to guarantee buyers have enough time for the entire demo experience and pre-order opportunity. Wristbands are handed out at the shop on a first come, first served basis and are not bookable in advance or transferrable to other days.

Britain felt an urgent need to catch 'em all over the weekend, with the opening of a Pokemon Center in London to celebrate the upcoming Sword and Shield's UK-inspired Galar region. Unlike the healing centers in the games, real-life Pokemon Centers are basically stores devoted to merchandise for the franchise, with some exclusive merch themed around the bowler hat-wearing London commuter Pikachu -- like plushies, pins and umbrellas.

CNET was invited to visit the Pokemon Center London in Westfield Shepherd's Bush ahead of its opening, so check out our video tour of the store to see what awaits.

The £240 (about $305) gigantic Pikachu plush was sold out at the preview event, but we were promised that a few more will be available in the shop. If that's too expensive, you can get a £20 ($25) London Pikachu plush or items based on Sword and Shield starters Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.

If apparel (or spending money) isn't your thing, you can play a free 10-minute trial of Sword and Shield on Nintendo Switch (or Switch Lite, if you want a portable experience). Pokemon Go players will also see an increase in the spawning of Psyduck, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Combee, and other Pokémon throughout the Westfield center.

The lines to get into the store were pretty extreme over the weekend, with people reporting waits of up to six hours on Friday and Westfield cutting off further queuing before 12 p.m. on Sunday.

"Interest in the store debut has been extraordinary — we've never had a wait this long before," the center said on Twitter.

The Pokemon Center London will be open until November 15, the release date of Sword & Shield. If you want to attend but don't want to stand in line for hours, we recommend waiting a few weeks until the initial frenzy fades down.

Hardcore trainers will return to the United Kingdom's capital next year. The 2020 Pokemon World Championships will be hosted there, according to the business.Twitter exchange

Back in August, there was a discrepancy between the US and UK reports. We do not yet have dates, but they have been held in August every year since 2004.

Competitive tournaments in the primary video game series (2020 will be the first to employ Sword and Shield), the Trading Card Game, Pokken Tournament, and Pokémon Go are among the championships (which had its first invitational in 2019). Even if you're not interested in competing, there will be lots of trade meets, cosplay, and goods.

Update, Oct. 18: Adds video tour of Pokemon Center London and more details about the store.
Update, Oct. 21: Notes long lines over the opening weekend.
