Biology Info


Dragonite is a bipedal draconic reptile Pokémon with pale orange skin. It has a round snout with short nostrils and huge grayish-green eyes. A pair of long, slender antennae protrude from the top of its head, flanked by a tiny horn. It has a cream-colored striated underside that continues from its neck to the tip of its long, tapering tail. It has muscular limbs and legs with three claws on each. The leg joints are nicely defined, and the arms are smooth and rounded. Dragonite wings are tiny in comparison to its body and have teal wing membranes.

Despite its mass, Dragonite has the ability to fly faster than the speed of sound. It may round the world in sixteen hours, assuming a ground speed of about 1,556 mph (2,505 km/h) at the equator. Dragonite, a kindhearted Pokémon with human-like intellect, is claimed to rescue people from drowning and guide lost or foundering ships to safety. However, as seen in the anime, if its surroundings is endangered, it will go on an unrestrained, destructive rampage. After shattering everything that has enraged it to smithereens, dragonite will generally settle down and be pleased. When it meets Kingdra, it is known to engage in violent combat. Dragonite has been referred to as the Sea Incarnate and the Sea Guardian. Drayden has said that Dragonite's power has the ability to change the weather. There are several ships with Dragonite-themed figureheads.

Dragonite is very uncommon in the wild, usually found near the sea. Some allege that there is a Dragonite-only island out in the seas. Outrage was Generation II's defining move.
