Decidueye is a tall bird Pokémon that looks like an owl. The top half of its face is dark green, with an orange mask-like marking around its eyes. It has reddish-orange eyes and a hooked dark green beak. The brown feathers on its wings and back contrast with the white on the rest of its body. The three feathers at the tip of each wing have a finger-like structure and lighter tips. The backs of its wings and body are covered with white dots, six on per wing. A line of upside-down, reddish-orange triangles runs across the top of each wing. It has lengthy legs, two toes pointing front and two looking backward, and short dark green talons. Its tail is made up of three long, green leaves.

A leafy hood covers its head and shoulders, as well as a portion of its face. The hood is draped nicely over the shoulders and back, but the borders are irregular. The hood generates several pointed projections around the head that extend over its face. From the peak of its hood, a single white feather with a reddish-orange base spreads. A reddish-orange X shape produced by dead leaves forms the middle of its breast. Two vines extend from its hood and, when tugged, seal the hood farther over Decidueye's face and strengthen its concentration.

While this Pokémon is naturally calm and cautious, if it is startled, it starts to panic. It can conceal itself from opponents by concealing its existence, enabling it to strike unsuspecting adversaries. [1] It can pluck, aim, and fire an arrow quill from its wings in a tenth of a second. It is not only fast, but extremely precise, capable of hitting targets up to half a mile away.

Hisuian Decidueye has a smaller wing area and thicker legs than Alolan Decidueye. It has longer plumes around its ankles, black feet with white talons, and red tail feathers. Its head and neck covering are similarly crimson with orange and white highlights, resembling an ayaigasa. [2] Its wings seem to have additional layers, and its feather rachises can store air, letting it to resist the intense cold of the Hisui area.

Hisuian Decidueye is reported to have a strong, aggressive nature, although it will accept individuals who are not antagonistic to it. It loves to battle at close range in order to overwhelm adversaries, unlike its Alolan cousin. It has a nomadic existence, traversing the countryside in quest of food. Its legs are capable of delivering tremendous kicks capable of knocking down trees and destroying rocks. Hisuian Decidueye's distinctive offensive tactic is to fly forward to unleash kicks, then utilize concealed arrow quills to deliver many strikes in a sequence. [3]

Alolan Decidueye is the only Pokémon known to be able to learn the move Spirit Shackle. It is also the only Pokémon known to use the Z-Move Sinister Arrow Raid.

Hisuian Decidueye is the only Pokémon known to be able to learn the move Triple Arrows.
