Clamperl Limited Research 2019 Event



Trainers, Niantic has recently introduced a Clamperl-themed Limited Research Event! This event seems to follow the same structure as the last Limited Research Feebas Day Event, which took place in January.

Players worldwide will be able to engage in a new sort of Limited Field Research for three hours on February 23rd (Europe, Middle East, Africa, Americas, India, Greenland) and February 24th (Asia-Pacific), with the potential to meet a Clamperl for the first time in Pokémon GO! There's still no news about a gleaming Clamperl!



Event Date + Time

  • Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: Feb. 23, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. UTC (GMT +0)

  • The Americas and Greenland: Feb. 23, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8)

  • Asia-Pacific: Feb. 24, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. JST (GMT +9)


Features

  • 2× Catch Stardust for Water-type Pokémon during the three-hour window.

  • Water-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event. (including, but not limited to Krabby, Wailmer, etc.)

  • Limited Research tasks will be available when you spin Photo Discs at PokéStops.

  • Completing the Limited Research tasks will award you encounters with Clamperl.


Tips and Tricks


Niantic’s official announcement post clarifies a few things:

  • As long as you’ve collected the Limited Research during the event window, you can complete it at any time.*

  • Each PokéStop will give out a Limited Clamperl Field Research task during the event.

  • You can’t revisit the same PokéStop to get more of the same task.

  • Huntail and Gorebyss will each take 50 candy to evolve – you should aim to accumulate as much candy as possible as this split evolution is completely random and could therefore potentially take you a few goes to get both.


Clamperl missions will be added as soon as they become available. On Clamperl day, every Clamperl found through Field Research will be Level 15, which implies they will be encountered in the following CP range:

Sadly, Field Research encounters do not benefit from weather, thus your Clamperl will always be Level 15. We recommend retaining them all and trying your luck with Trade. Maybe the gods of stat re-rolls will be kind to you.

If the reaction for the Feebas restricted research day was that it wasn't very rewarding or thrilling, Niantic seems to have chosen to offer folks something to hunt for in the next one. The Pokémon GO developer just announced the February restricted research day—it seems that these are monthly, at least so far—and it will include Clamperl, a bivalve Pokémon distinguishable from Shelder by the fact that I haven't caught 500,000 of them since launch. In actuality, I haven't caught any since Clamperl is a new Pokémon for the event. It all happens this Saturday, February 23.

Clamperl is a Gen-3 Pokémon with a branching evolution, and it has been excluded from the usual waves of new animals, as have many other Pokémon with restricted evolution circumstances or other peculiarities. When exchanged, it may develop into either Huntail or Gorebyss, depending on the object it is carrying.

The structure of the restricted research day seems to be similar to that of the Feebas day. We'll still get a three-hour window, comparable to community days or special raid days, and we'll still earn unique research missions from Pokéstops during that period. Those research assignments will reward us with Clamperl encounters, and I'm sure everyone will be attempting to collect as much candy as they can in order to obtain both evolutions before the festival ends.

It's yet unknown how Clamperl's evolutions will function: Niantic has already had the potential to include trading-triggered evolutions, but that doesn't imply we won't see it this time. Nonetheless, Pokémon in this game do not carry stuff, thus it will most likely be something else. The blog article makes no mention of its evolutions, which is a bit strange: it makes sense for Niantic to withhold information on the evolutions, but not even mentioning them is even weirder. I'd be astonished if we received Clamperl without being able to develop it, therefore there should be some kind of mechanism in place.

Water Festival 2018 Event

With the return of the Water Festival in Pokémon Go, be ready to take advantage of the summertime. Biology Medicham is a humanoid, bipedal Pokémon that resembles a yoga practitioner. It has a gray body with red and yellow adornments. A red headpiece with three bulb-like extensions covers the upper portion of its head: one on top and one on either side. The bulb on top is short on a female Medicham.
