Swinub Community Day in February 16, 2019

Swinub Community Day is Here!

It's taken Niantic Labs a bit longer than normal to announce the upcoming Community Day for Pokémon GO, but we think we know why. We now shift our focus to February, which will showcase a properly ice-bound tiny creature to fit the season, with Totodile now a distant memory and Feebas' short research day a kind of strange misfire. Swinub will be the featured Pokémon for February Community Day, which will take place on February 16. swinub_piloswine_mamoswine_shiny_swinub_shiny_piloswine_and_shiny_mamoswine_pokemon_models The February Community Day in Pokemon GO is only around two weeks away, so gamers are thinking about Swinub and its evolutions. Pokemon GO users will get three hours on the weekend of February 16 to capture as many of the Gen 2 Ice-type creatures as possible and increase their collection with shiny spawns, evolutions, and perhaps a few more surprises. The core concept of Community Day is simple: go out and capture a ton of pokemon for three hours, but things are different this time. For those that want a little more guidance, we've put up a detailed handbook with all the information you'll need for the big day. Swinub_community_day_2019 At first glance, this does not seem to be a very intriguing feature. Community Days often toggle between starting Pokémon and uncommon three-tier evolution chains like as Beldum, Dratini, and Larvitar. Swinub is none of these things. It's been rather prevalent since it was initially introduced with the Ice-type event last year, and anybody who has played the game over that time period is sure to have plenty of candy for it, as well as an evolved Piloswine somewhere in the mix. So, what's the catch? Niantic is taking advantage of Community Day to reveal Mammoswine, Swinub's third-tier, Gen-4 evolution. According to the release, you'll be able to use a Sinnoh Stone to evolve Piloswine into Mammoswine during or up to one hour after the event, making this a unique kind of limited time Pokémon that we haven't seen in the game before. During the event, we'll also be able to "earn up to 5 Sinnoh Stones during trainer fights," but it's unclear if these will be guaranteed drops from bouts or not. If they are guaranteed, it makes sense: Niantic is utilizing the restricted evolution window to get people into the battling system who may not have used it otherwise, just as Eevee community day was intended to encourage trainers to utilize the trade system. shiny-swinub-1158755 It raises the issue of whether we'll be able to get Mamoswine at some time in the future. Otherwise, there would be a lot of disgruntled trainers that missed out on this event. Niantic has announced that the second Pokémon GO Community Day of 2019 will take place in different areas across the world in February. It will have increased Swinub spawns, quadruple capture Stardust, three-hour Lures, and a special move for Mamoswine, among other things. You must utilize the rare Sinnoh Stone item on Piloswine in order for it to develop into Mamoswine. Shiny Swinub, Shiny Piloswine, and Shiny Mamoswine will also make their Pokémon GO debuts, based on prior Community Days. Check the table below to see when event hours are in your part of the world:
  • Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India: February 16, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. UTC
  • The Americas and Greenland: February 16, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PST
  • The Asia-Pacific region: February 17, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. JST
The remainder of the event is fairly normal fare: 3-hour lures, three times the catch stardust, and a special attack that might make Mamoswine significant in trainer bouts or raids. Otherwise, I'm all for greater experimentation when it comes to introducing or evolving new Pokémon, so this seems to be a good idea. We'll see how it goes when it arrives. https://pokemongocentral.one/swinub-community-day-in-february-16-2019/?feed_id=31680&_unique_id=63d797f0a8a5a
